This bill would require the court, upon the first criminal conviction of a person for driving under the influence, to order the person to install and maintain an Ignition Interlock Device (IID-“breathalyzer”) for a specified period of time.  These devices have been shown to deter drunk driving and thus prevent injury and death to  drivers and other including children, who might otherwise be victims of such accidents.
